The Winning Streak Continues

Alahly, Egyptian Premier League, Football

Al Ahly defeated Al Ittihad of Alexandria 3-0 on Monday night at Al Ahly Stadium, keeping our winning streak in the league alive after six weeks.

Percy Tau and Yasser scored two goals in the first half while Akram Tawfik added the third goal in the dying moments of the match.

We cemented our position atop of the table with 18 points from six matches.

First Half

We scored from our first foray into the penalty box of Al Ittihad as Ahmed Abdelkader received a fantastic pass and dribbled the goalkeeper but his shot was stopped by the defense of Al Ittihad.

The ball rebounded to the feet of Percy Tau to score the opening goal.

We kept our pressure after taking the lead but the visitors made some attempts to break our defense.

In the 32nd minute, a beautiful cross from Ali Maaloul was met by a perfect header from Yasser Ibrahim that found the back of the net.

Our captain and goalkeeper Mohamed El Shenawy was needed after the referee awarded a penalty to the Alexandrian side.

Mahmoud Alaa, Al Ittihad defender, stepped up to take the penalty but his shot was stopped by a brilliant save from El Shenawy that sent us to the dressing room with a two-goal lead.

Koller made his first substitution at half time as Mohamed Magdy Afsha joined the game instead of Bruno Savio.

The second half started with another penalty for the visitors. Al Ittihad changed their penalty taker as Ahmed Adel stepped up to take the penalty but he sent it wide.

The second half followed the same pattern of the first half as our players kept possession and tried to add more goals.

Karim Fouad and Percy Tau missed two clear chances to add the third goal.

Koller made three more substitutions as Mahmoud Metwally, Hamdy Fathy and Shady Hussein replaced Yasser Ibrahim, Amr El Soulia and Abdelkader.

Karim Fouad was replaced in the 84th minute by Hussein El Shahat.

Tau had a clear chance to add another goal as he went one against one with the goalkeeper but he failed to dribble the goalkeeper and was injured.

Our team was forced to complete the game with 10 players but it did not affect the tempo of the game.

In the added time, Mohamed Magdy Afsha received a defense-dissecting pass from El Shahat.

Afsha dribbled the goalkeeper and passed it to Akram who put it in the back of the net to secure a 3-0 win for the Red Eagles.
